Fernando:

I have to say that your web site is the best I've seen as far as content. Congratulations on putting it together.

We old people have a tendency to be dogmatic about things and life. We have been there, done that, and we know best.  I'm sure you have encountered that, right? I made an observation about the peaks in your photo that the peaks in sight were Tres and Puntiagudo. I have gone over the hundreds of photos from my climbing years in this area, from the tops of Ojos, Tres, and Pissis, and I still think those are the peaks.  BUT, I could be wrong!  Please do me a favor.  When you are on Bonete, see if I am correct.

Now, here is a question for you that has bothered me for almost 15 years.  On the summit of Pissis, look to the south east for a snow covered peak some 50-75 miles away. From the Bonete summit, it would be east southeast. What is that peak?

OK, I want to share with you a project I wanted to take on one time but never do so, for a number of reasons.  As you ascend the Pissis from the south toward the summit, you will reach a spot where a subsidiary peak rises to your left, to the west.  I solo'd that sub peak on one of my climbs.  Now, look to your right, to the east.  There are two susidiary peaks there very close to each other.  My goal was to solo those both. On one trip, however, the snow was so deep on and around the entire peak that I did not try it.  (I won't solo when snow/ice covers an entire route.)  On another trip, my intent again was to try the two peaks, but I became enchanted by the north traverse around to the west route and did that instead.  So, should you or anyone else wish to try this sometime I believe it might be a first.  I know one peak has been climbed but I'm not sure that both have.  And I am quite sure that they have not been solo'd.  (By the way, the definition we used to have of solo out there was that a lone person must approach (with a driver of course), climb, and retreat (with a driver) from the mountain with no one else there as part of team.  Sort of old school, but it is the criteria we used.)  Anyway, I offer that alternative in case the main summit is not possible. You could still do something worthwhile!

Take care.

Regards.

Bob
