Starting point of our second traverse will be the Nevado Tres Cruces (6749m), one of the highest peaks in the Andes but very rarely climbed.
Walther Penck (6658m), also known as Cazadero is the 9th peak of the Andes and has only ever had a few ascents.
Walther Penck (1888 - 1923) born in Vienna worked 1912 -1914 in Argentina as geologist.
The major problems with Nevado Tres Cruces and Walther Penck are access, cold, altitude, and remoteness.
